The
central idea of my concentration is fairy tales re imagined. I started out with
the classics (Snow White, Rapunzel, Sleeping Beauty and so on) and then moved
from there to the villains of the stories. In the beginning, the characters
were more personal, and lighter, especially the first two. Towards the end, the colors become darker, and
the last four pieces, as villains, have their faces smeared out because they are the
unwanted ones in the stories. Most of the focus, in both the series and the stories is on the heroes and heroines.
AP Score: 3
—3.C An idea for a concentration is
presented, and some original ideas or attempts at innovation with materials and
techniques seem to be emerging.
—3.E Some development is evident,
but only a moderate understanding and superficial application of design
principles are demonstrated.
Reflection: Overall, this concentration was quite fun. I enjoyed keeping a style for multiple pieces, which is something I don't usually like to do. I love stories, so it was a blast trying to make art out of them. However, it became pretty hard to come up with ideas without too much repetition, because many of these stories have the same basic outline. The progression in particular was difficult for the same reasons.
